<p>Found a great way to get your blog posts hitting the <a href="http://www.friendfeed.com">FriendFeed</a> service in record time using the services Simple Update Protocol or SUP!</p>
<blockquote><p>SUP (Simple Update Protocol) is a simple and compact "ping feed" that web services can produce in order to alert the consumers of their feeds when a feed has been updated. This reduces update latency and improves efficiency by eliminating the need for frequent polling.</p></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://blog.friendfeed.com/2008/08/simple-update-protocol-fetch-updates.html">FriendFeed blog post on SUP</a></p>
<p>I initially found out about this from <a href="http://joshhaley.com/2008/12/19/sup-friendfeed/">Josh Haley</a>, a <a href="http://neothoughts.com/2008/12/18/wp-sup-a-wordpress-plugin-for-friendfeeds-simple-update-protocol/">WordPress plugin</a> (WP-SUP), as well as a little video put together by <a href="http://www.benjamingolub.com/">Benjamin Golub</a>.</p>
<p><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CMXU5N6TfS0&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CMXU5N6TfS0&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>known issue</strong> : apparently there is an issue if you use <a href="http://www.feedburner.com">Feedburner</a> where it is stripping the tags that are added by the plugin..so just so you know that. </p>
<p>Ok with that said I am gonna give the SUP a try with this post. If all works right it should post right away to FriendFeed. 3, 2, 1.....</p>
