Collect Your Favorite Geeks!
When I was a kid growing up I collected cards for baseball, football, hockey, even the cards they put out for the Star Wars and Superman films.
Well today ThinkGeek is making it possible to collect your favorite geeks in a card set! How kool is that!
Each set contains eight full color two-sided trading cards with a beautiful piece of artwork on one side, and a micro biography complete with a list of stats super powers for each geek on the other. Now you can collect every geek... every week... in 8 card increments. In fact, why not get two packs so you can have one sealed up in mint condition, and one more to open and enjoy. Come on, you know you want to.
Features
- Geek A Week trading cards with original artwork by Len Peralta
- 8 cards per set
- Each card depicts an amazing geek immortalized in full color
- Card backs contain stats and a micro biography
- Set One:

‘Fight Club’ Comes To Silicon Valley
This is brutal! Hardcore!
The gentleman’s fighting club holds matches in a car garage, and since it’s a “geek” fight club, they’ve even included a mural of a computer in the background. There are two rules or guidelines in this gentleman’s fight club: One, don’t cripple your friend. And two, don’t make anyone cry.

The Geek Makes The Paper!
So the other day I wrote a blog post about the Snowpocalypse : KC Edition and Kansas City trying to get some swarm badges on Foursquare.
Well after all of that I was contacted by The Kansas City Star, interviewed, and this morning the story was posted in the newspaper!! Very Kool!!! They also used my Yoda hat picture as well.

Turning A Blizzard Into A Swarm
So today in the Kansas City area we had a big blizzard hit the area which kept everyone at home safe and warm so what should we do? Watch some tv, sleep, eat food? Well yeah those are some of the things we did but we also worked towards getting some badges on the check in service Foursquare.
How did we do? Well we first hit the 50 check ins for he swarm badge and then we hit 250 for the super swarm badge!! We took a run at the super duper swarm badge (500 checkins) which we didn't quite make it but we got up to 430 which was pretty kool!
Overall it was a fun afternoon trying to get everyone to check into the Snowpocalypse 2011: KC Edition and to try to hit those numbers of 50 and 250 and even try at 500.
Thanks to everyone who made it a fun event and congrats to those who got their swarm and super swarm badges!
Mother Nature you can take our roads but you can't take our interwebs!
Note : Do we know who setup the location? I would love to know and say thanks for getting things started. If you know or you were the one shoot me a message. thx!
Facto.me – A Did You Know About Yourself
Discovered this kool little service that was just launched called facto.me which lets you post interesting facts about yourself (share on facebook and twitter) and then let others learn more about you and also select what they think is an appropriate response to your fact.
I have to say I geek out for services like these that are plain, simple, and fun. Check it out and check out my profile at http://facto.me/jeffisageek
Here is the post from the facto.me tumblr page:
I just launched Facto.me, a fun 24 hour project I dreamt up, designed, and built in around 24 hours. Use it to share interesting and little-known facts about yourself with friends.
Here’s mine: http://facto.me/kyle
Enjoy!
We Dont Need No Stinkin Keys! We Got Foursquare
Now this is a pretty sweet idea using Foursquare as a key to get into a location. Of course I would not want to use this for my house everyday but for a party or event this would be hella geeky! (side note: love the use of Daft Punk as well in the video)
Brooklyn developers Erin Sparling and Nicholas Hall decided to take check-ins to a new level. In this video below you’ll see he and his friends recently coded a hack for Foursquare that allows users to unlock doors by checking in. They will host a party on New Year’s Eve where anyone can check-in to open their door themselves. I assume the party is BYOB.

Tweetdeck says “Ludicrous Speed GO!”
So yesterday Tweetdeck announced an experimental version of their app that would allow you to get your tweets in real-time using the new user streams API from twitter.
And its not only tweets that get the supercharged treatment. Other actions that are relevant to you are also brought immediately to your attention. For example, if someone follows you - WOOSH, it’s there. If someone favourites one of your tweets - BAM, straight into your Mentions. Oh and discovering new people to follow is made a lot easier with the addition of an option to see @replies from your friends to other people that you don’t follow. This is a big change from the standard behaviour where you only see replies to people that you actually follow.
Now it is limited to only 5000 peeps right now and they might already be gone but I would say if your interested go check it out and see if they have some left.
It is experimental so there could be issues. So far everything seems good on my end.
geekpr0n.net : It’s Geeklicious!
So recently I started a new tumblr and called it geekpr0n.
What will you find on geekpr0n? How about pics/videos from star wars, star trek, comics, doctor who, random stuff....who knows!
Check out the video for a little more insight from me and of course check out the site as well. Let me know what you think.
