25 Years Ago : The Shuttle Challenger Disaster
Today marks the 25th Anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster back in 1986.
I remember it being special due to school teacher Christa McAuliffe being part of the crew and I think this might have been the first tragedy I was alive for or at least remember at an early age.
Today we honor those lost and I take a moment to thank all who put there lives on the line to protect us or for those who risk their lives to better and advance us as human beings.

Mobile Media Club In Kansas City
So a new group is forming here in the Kansas City area called the Mobile Media Club and you can probably guess it has to do with the hot topic of the mobile web.
There is so much going on out there today when it comes to mobile from apps, to marking, to the really hot topic of location based services like gowalla and foursquare.
This looks like it is gonna be a fun group with some really fun and smart people. I look forward to meeting monthly and discussing different topics in the area of mobile.
Another great resource when it comes to check out is mobile local social which is a local blog that covers news from not only mobile apps/services but stuff happening all over the interwebs.
Hope to see you at a meeting soon!
Have An 8-Bit Christmas!
So I found this kool album 8-Bit Christmas you can get from RUSH COIL that not only lets you get your favorite Christmas tunes in chiptune form but all the proceeds go to the charity Child's Play!
UPDATE: We've decided to donate ALL net proceeds from digital sales to Child's Play! - a charity created by the kind folks at Penny Arcade. The organization presents hospitalized chidren around the globe with games and toys during the holiday season. This year they have raised over $1,000,000.

If you wanna hear what tracks are included or you want to order a copy on cd which will be shipped for free jump over to the site. Very kool to get some great holiday tunes geeked out and help all those little geeks that need something this holiday season.
Mention Notifier Brings You Twitter List Notifications

So recently I wrote about Mention Notifier which is a service that will send you either emails or text messages when you get mentioned on Twitter or you setup a twitter search and the criteria is met which is a really kool service (and they just went real time!) and now they have a new feature to the service.....Twitter list notification!
That's right the hot new thing on the interwebs are Twitter lists and now by using Mention Notifier you can be notified everytime someone adds you to a list.
Below is an example of what you will see in your email:
@MentionNotifier has found a new list that you belong to.
.LAG | Larry Green has added you to technophile

I must say this is a great way to keep up with who is showcasing your tweets. Great job guys!

Startup Weekend KC : TopChirp – Twitter Meets Digg

"Rise Above the Flock. Rate a tweet to the Top Chirp."
TopChirp was one of the many startups that came out of Startup Weekend Kansas City and I think you could define it best as digg meets twitter allowing you vote on tweets and with enough votes it could become the top chirp. Since it just came out of startup weekend I thnk it would be safe to say its in a very beta stage but will be interesting to see it grow and where it goes from here. Check out the presentation the group did Sunday night.

November 18, 2008 - This isn't as crazy as it sounds, and it's not just kids doing it. In the past couple of days, I've had three different adults tell me that they researched 3 different things on YouTube: quitting smoking, tattoo removal, and yoga. That's stuff I would have googled. All 3 people are what I would call "mainstream" computer users, too.

November 17, 2008 - DC Comics is really starting to worry me. James Robinson and Grant Morrison are both apparently ticked off; Final Crisis final issue being rewritten... maybe it really is time for Didio to go, especially if he's trotting out a story that's too damned similar to something from 1988... And WHY ON EARTH would you ever take Superman out of Action Comics?
