SMCKC Breakfast This Friday (Feb 5th)
If you have not had a chance to check out the Social Media Club of Kansas City yet and you are a social media user, fan, or newbie then you should come see what it is all about!
This Friday we will be having our monthly breakfast and it is a great time to meet some of the members and get more information on the club.
This month we will be having a couple kool things happening with a presentation by the local company emfluence , some demonstrations of cards that are using the augmented reality technology, as well as hear from the SMCKC board on how things are going for the inaugural board (which I am the tech chair for).
The breakfast is this Friday (Feb 5th) at the Kansas City Cafe from 7:30am to 9:00am. Hope to see you there and hey if you can't make it we also have a live stream of the event as well.

SMCKC Breakfast Tomorrow (10/9) Including @bryanperson
So tomorrow morning is the monthly breakfast for the social media club of Kansas City which just keeps getting bigger and better each month. This month will once again take place at the Kansas City Cafe and last I checked we were flirting with a 60+ crowd that will be in attendance! Very Kool!
Now this month is a little special as we will one be announcing the new Executive Board for the group after a couple weeks of voting and we will also be having s special guest speaker in Bryan Person [follow him on twitter].
Who is Brian you you ask? Well here is a little bit of info about him from his website:

SMCKC Breakfast : Video Blogging and Social Media Tools
So this morning we had the monthly social media club kansas city breakfast at Crown Center here in Kansas City. There was a great crowd with some new faces as well as the regulars.
We split into two groups with one talking about social media and the law (I believe) which I think Chris (aka Duckman1221) took some video and I was in the group that talked a little video blogging and a little social media tools.
As I had mentioned it was a great breakfast and if you were unable to attend here is a little bit of the action and we hope to see you back soon and for all the new faces we hope to see you again.

June SMCKC Breakfast This Friday
Thats right its that time again for the monthly meetup of the social media club of Kansas City. This month we will be hitting up Crown Center for the breakfast which will start at 7:30am.

Ideas And Angles Bringing Us White Board Wednesday
Tomorrow Kansas City social media specialists Ideas and Angles are going to host the very first "White Board Wednesday". Check below for details and a little idea what they are looking for with the event.
I+A is excited to announce the first “White Board Wednesday” session. A normal meeting for us involved a lot of forming ideas and working through them on our trusty white board. We are always working to find new ways to connect with people and solve problems so why not take it live to the people?

Kansas City Social Media Club Breakfast Tomorrow (5/1)
To all you social media types in Kansas City it is that time again when we all get together for some food, fellowship, and fun!
As always the event is open to all and free (besides what you want to purchase food wise). There will be some discussion on a topic around social media and you can meet some of those peeps you follow on that little service called twitter.

Social Media Meets Severe Weather
Whitney Mathews of the local Kansas City company Spiral16 recently sat down with a local blogger/podcaster Ed Roberts who runs the KC Weather Podcast and they discussed using social media when it comes to reporting or talking about severe weather
Some new features Ed has added when it comes to sever weather in the social media realm is adding a chat room for everyone to get together and interact with Ed and others as well as using the hashtag #kcstorms on twitter.

Its that time again!! Time for the monthly social media club kc breakfast. This month we will be meeting at Le Peep at 79th and Quivera in Lenexa at 7:30 am on Friday (3/6)
Seems like we have had a little downtime from events after a busy end of 2008 and beginning of 2009 so it will be fun to talk with the usual gang as well as meet the new faces to the group.

SMCKC Meetup A HUGE Success!
Last night there was food, there was beer, and most of all there was a huge crowd. Nicholson Kovac was the location and the audience was hovering around 90 or so.
Social Media Club KC put on a meetup for those in the community who are interested in all types of social media and the social web.
I got the chance to be on a panel that discussed using twitter to help your business and what was kool about it was in social media fashion the panel pretty much grew to the whole room. Social media at its finest!
The crew from the Life In The Tubes Video Podcast were there with their cameras so once that video makes it's way on the interweb you can bet I will be sharing it with everyone.

I have to say over the last few months we have seen incredible growth in attendance and participation and with some more great events coming up in the Kansas City area like Startup Weekend and in the midwest with Big Omaha we are really seeing the region grow and make its presence felt in tech/social media arena. It is exciting times and I am glad to be a part of getting things going.

SMCKC Meetup Tonight – Streaming Live Online
If you follow my blog or my twitter stream you know tonight is the big SMCKC meetup here in Kansas City and yours truly will be on a panel talking about twitter.
Now if you are in the KC area you can jump over to our site and get the details on the event but if you are unable to attend or you are outside of the area we will be streaming the event live online. Streaming should start around 6pm-ish central or 7pm eastern.
I created a page with the ustream feed embedded so jump over there and catch the event.
I think we are up to around 70 attending with an additional 15 or so maybe coming so look forward to meeting some new people as well as seeing you all online.

Tweetups, Meetups, And More! Oh My! – Join The Fun
This week I have a couple of events I will be attending here in the KC area and would love to meet some fellow twitter users, readers of my blog, new peeps in general.
First we have the SMCKC meetup thursday night at Nicholson Kovac where the topic of discussion will be using twitter/social media with business and yours truly will be on the panel to discuss this topic...now I know you are saying I really don't have any experience in that area but hey I do have experience with twitter and using for my own personal branding as (jeff)isageek as well as you first need to understand twitter/social media tools in order to use them for your business needs so I think I will fit in nicely there. Should be a good time and a great discussion.
Second we have the tweetup/meetup/calling all geeks for the pool hall tweetup at Side Pockets in Lenexa Saturday night. This is just a come and hang out, meet some fellow social media/twitter/blogger/brightkite ect ect. types.
Both events should be a blast and if you get a chance drop on by. Hope to see you all there!
Two New SMCKC Places On The Interweb
Hey Everyone
I have added two new places on the web that those who are part of the Social Media Club in Kansas City or those interested in getting more information on events and such can visit.
First I created a Facebook group for all to join. Facebook is one of the biggest social networks out there right now so it just seems like a given to put something on there to keep in contact with each other as well as to find new social media types out there that my not know we even exist.
Second I created a Flickr group after we discussed setting on up to host all the pics of events we have had or for future events to share with all.
This is all for now....keep your eyes on your rss feeds as there are many projects in the works as well as some kool events coming up in the social media kc space.
Social Media Club KC Breakfast – This Friday
Its that time kids when all us social media types get together for breakfast. This month we are gonna meet at the First Watch in Olathe (11/7).
If you get a chance please join us as we always love new faces and if you been to one before come back as we would love to chat some more. It is open to anyone so don't feel like you are not welcome.
Think we are gonna start meeting around 7:30 and will be hanging out for the morning so if you cant make it early then come by a little later.
