Marching For Babies And Walking For Hearts In May

May is my month for walking for good causes with the March of Dimes and the march for babies followed by the American Heart Association and the Heart Walk.

This year will be my 3rd year for the heart walk and my 1st for the march for babies which are both great causes.

It's great to join these events and know just my little contribution is making a big difference in peoples lives from babies all the way to the elderly.

If you have a way and would be interested I would love to have your contribution to my goal of $500 dollars for each walk as well as the goal of helping those in need.

Thank you very much!

My New Android Home Screen

One thing I am always doing and it seems like it is an addiction is changing up the look of my home screen on my HTC EVO.

What you are looking at is my current version which uses a couple apps and widgets to get what I wanted.

First I am using ADW.Launcher to replace HTC Sense and allows you to pretty much customize your phone to your hearts desire.  There is a free version and if you find you are liking it you can upgrade to the paid version which of course opens up more options for you to use.

Now besides options with the ADW.Launcher you can also add themes to you phone which is what I did here using the chemistry theme as you can see in the icons looking like they are from the element table.

For the date and the clock I went ahead and used an option I didnt find in the market but on the interwebs called TypoClock which gives it a kool different look and has a couple options you can use to make it look the way you would like.

One last piece that I will share is the media player is actually the widget for DoggCatcher which is the app I use for my podcast listening.

So there you have it my most recent home screen setup.  Hope maybe some of the info I shared you can use in modifications for your Android phone and hope you think mine is pretty kool looking!

Do you have your home screen all prettied up?  Leave a comment and share a link to a pic of it or shoot me and @reply on twitter.

Around KC: KCTwestival Returns March 24th

Thursday March 24th, 2011 marks the return of a great event we have had in the past here in the Kansas City area called Twestival.

Last year we did not have an actual event in Kansas City but in 2008 and 2009 raising money for two great causes in Charity: Water and Wayside Waifs.

Now Twestival is by no means a local event held here in the Kansas City area...in fact there are events held all over the country and even the world helping worthwhile charities.  If you are wondering if you city is having an event make sure to check out the official twestival site.

So back to the Kansas City event for which I will be attending...I have yet to hear which charity we will be raising money for and actually I have not heard an official venue but you can keep up to date by checking the website or subscribing to the twitter feed @kctwestival

Hope to see you all there and lets raise some money for a good cause!

5 Guys Burgers And Fries App For Android

One of my favorite places to get burgers and fries is 5 Guys Burgers and Fries and to say I was excited to see they launched an Android app is an understatement.

What can you do with this app?  Well pretty much the two things you would want it to (minus getting free food or cooking your food for you I guess).  First up using your GPS location it tells you where the closest Five Guys is and second it lets you order your food and once you arrive to the location skip the line to pay and go straight to the grill and let them know you have arrived!

Very simple and very easy to use.  I see myself getting a lot of use out of this app which I guess could be a good thing or a bad thing depending how you look at it.

I will say I have just installed the app and played around with it and not actually ordered yet.  Once I actually use it I will let you know how my experience is with pickup.

Have you used this app yet?  How was it once you arrived to pick up your order?  Would love to find out.
