Feb 5th, 2010 by (jeff)isageek

This morning at the SMCKC breakfast we got the chance to check out the kool new augmented reality greeting cards that Hallmark Cards is starting to put out.

Its a pretty kool technology that I have no doubt we are gonna see more and more of.

Here is a little video I put together to show the cards in action (not the easiest to operate two cams so bare with me hehe) – thanks to Kevin Cobb and Justin Goldsborough

KC For Haiti Care Package Party
Jan 14th, 2010 by (jeff)isageek

So unless you are living on another planet you have probably heard about the destructive earthquake that hit Haiti the other day.

One thing that Kansas City is known for is when someone is in need we the citizens of KC get to work and show what a great city of people we have here and this tragedy is no different.

My buddy Kurt aka kcklo63 on twitter is putting together a care package party to collect and box up care packages to be sent to Haiti.

Truly a grass-roots effort, members of the KC community will come together to put together care packages that will be donated to Heart To Heart, an Olathe non-profit organization, to be shipped to Haiti for earthquake relief efforts.

When?

(jeff)isageek Joins The Bandit Network
Dec 2nd, 2009 by (jeff)isageek

frothy creepy

review jeffisageek

So I recently was asked if I wanted to join a network that was being put together of some websites here in the Kansas City area called the Bandit Network.  We all know each other through doing movie reviews and we all have our thoughts and ideas on the new movies, events, and tv shows but also have other things we are interested in as well.

Putting a network of sites together helps in spreading the word about different thoughts, ideas, ect and helps in the promotion of each sites materials.

I Look forward to sharing stuff from the other sites included as they are some great and talented people.

Sites included in the network (so far) are:

Lost In Reviews [twitter]
Frothy Girlz [twitter]
Down Right Creepy [twitter]

Oct 4th, 2009 by (jeff)isageek

zombiewalkposter

I guess when I think of Zombies roaming the streets of Kansas City I don’t think hey that is kool but in the case of this coming Saturday October 10th it will be a good thing for a good cause in Uplift which helps the homeless of Kansas City.

zombiewalksign

So the details on the zombie walk are as follows….meet at the JC Nichols Fountain at 2pm on Saturday October 10th and bring 5 non-perishable items to participate.  Then all you have to do is have a good time and give to a great cause.  Pretty simple huh?

Never actually been to a zombie walk and wonder what to expect?  Well here is a video I took at the last zombie walk that took place in the crossroads district:

I also grabbed some video of a little zombie action helping to promote the walk the other night in the P&L disctrict while catching the movie Zombieland (check out my review).

For more information on the walk check out kczombiewalk4hunger.com

[side note]
There will also be a zombie prom of the dead in the evening starting at 7pm at the Alcott Arts Center (180 South 18th st. – kcks 66102).  They will be taking donations at the door.
