Back To Twitter As My Default Twitter Client
October 26th, 2009 by (jeff)isageek

For the longest time I have been using other ways to access my Twitter message and to follow those who I have found interesting or informative with apps like Tweetdeck or web based service like Seesmic or Brizzly.  The reason for that was that most of the services offered basic things that helped enhance my twitter experience over the twitter website itself but recently that has started to change and I wanted to share with everyone what has started me back on the past to using twitter.com once again.

The first thing is Greasemonkey scripts.  I have installed and have been using troynt’s twitter script which takes a lot of features that are missing or that  enhance twitter and add them right into the service like the ability to one click RT, neted replies, pagination, media embedding, and overall very customizable script.

The second is the newly added feature of user lists!  This has been something I have wanted to see added for a while now and this gives me the ability to break up the people I follow into interest groups like geeks,  my smckc peeps, my real life friends, celeberties, ect ect and makes it easier to follow more people in a better manner as well as share with others a list of users they might want to check out as well.

note:  I will say I have noticed in the early stages of lists it can be kinda buggy adding someone to a list but other then that I have not noticing anything really to crazy.

So there you have it…I am back to actually using twitter.com has my twitter client of choice due to some of the customization that is available out there on the interwebs as well as some of the features that twitter itself is adding on to enhance the direct use.

  • I figure I'll be switching over to twitter homepage once I get the twitter lists. My groups is my main reason for being on Tweetdeck (although their new notifications system might keep me around). Hoping having lists native in twitter will mean I can use my groups in all twitter apps in the future.

ps. If you like the (via @username) check out this greasemonkey script:
