A Look At The Palm Pre

One of the mobile devices I am looking forward to checking out is the new phone from Palm called the Palm Pre which I think is due to be out in the next couple months from Sprint. I found this demo on the web showing off the abilities of the phone.
Looks pretty sweet and would love to get my hands on one so I could demonstrate to all my followers on twitter, friendfeed, facebook, brighkite, ect ect the list goes on and on so hey if someone at Sprint or Palm or somewhere else see's this and wants some free promo time with a geek who has thousands of followers you know where to find me...hehe hook me up!
Another quick note is there will be a preDevCamp here in kc shortly after the launch of the mobile device so keep an eye on the website if that is something that might interest you.
Twitter CEO Evan Williams At TED

Found this from my fellow Kansas City social media guru Zena Weist and thought I would share it with you all.
I for one always enjoy hearing from those that have started or are a part of some of the great services we all use daily.
Chad Vader Reenacts The Best Picture Nominees

Monkeying Around With Twitter

During the day when at work I find myself jumping on the web version of twitter to see who has replied to me, what DM's I have or even just checking out my friend stream.
Recently I added a few greasemonkey scripts that allow me to add or enhance the functionality of the web site and thought I would share with you some of my favorites.
Show # of unread replies + adds mentions
A simple script that displays the number of unread @replies and adds a Mentions tab in the Twitter sidebar.
Enhance Twitter
Enhance twitter.com by adding a search box (with search suggestions) to search tweets or current events/happenings right from your twitter home page.
Nested Twitter Replies
Adds nested replies to every Twitter conversation thread.
Endless Tweets
Loads pages endlessly when scrolling on the Twitter timeline. Other features: remembers last read tweet, embedded location map, more dynamic interface, tab-completion of friend names and live updates with Growl notifications.
Userscripts.org is a great site to find scripts like these and many others that you can use to enhance to customize services all over the interwebz so check it out.
AMC “Best Picture Showcase” Recap

So this past Saturday I had the opportunity along with my buddy JJ aka vivid13 to be part of an awesome event called the "Best Picture Showcase" put on by AMC.

Basically the concept is all 5 movies nominated for best picture for this years Oscars shown in 1 day, add unlimited popcorn, tons of movie geeks and you have an awesome event on your hands.
I did a little recap video with some input from others who attended so check that out below:
As I mentioned in the video I had an awesome time at the event, AMC put on one heck of a movie marathon and I cannot wait until next year to do it all again!
For some extra coverage of the "Best Picture Showcase" check out all the tweets tagged #amcbps from all over the country, as well as my fellow kc geek shane with his blog post running down the showcase and movies as well as his flickr pics of the event.
So did you go to the event in your city? What was your experience? Maybe you didnt but you saw the movies...what was your favorite? Let me know.

Today one of my co-workers asked if I was interested in joining up in a biggest loser comp with him and another one of our friends. I have been wanting to shed some more pounds so I was all over it.
Looks like we are gonna do a 2 month period starting today and not sure if we are gonna just do total pounds or percentages.
My starting weight as of today : 276 lbs.
I dont think I will update the blog everyday but if you dont already you can follow me on twitter or friendfeed and I should have daily updates.
Heading Out To The “Best Picture Showcase”
Well today is the day for the AMC "Best Picture Showcase". 13 plus hours of fun, unlimited popcorn and 5 movies nominated for best picture this year at the Oscars.
You can follow my day at the event on my twitter, brightkite, friendfeed, and facebook streams. Gotta love social media!

Wil Wheaton Brings Hope To Watchmen Fans
I must say over the past few months I have wondered is Watchmen going to be a good movie? Will Hollywood just crap over it?
Well time will tell I guess how the movie is accepted or destroyed by the fans but one thing that gives me hope is Wil Wheaton's statement after seening a screening of the movie.

I have to say hearing this from Wil makes me feel a little better going into my viewing of the movie as I know he is a hardcore geek that likes a lot of the same things I do as well as he is someone who gives his opionion and doesnt sugar coat it or anything to make people happy.
I am soooo excited for the lights to go down and experience this film.
Kansas City fans dont forget to do the scavenger hunt over at scene stealers for a chance to win passes to an early screening of Watchmen as well! Drawing is next Friday.

Love : Daft Punk Style

Do You Twitter Before, During, Or After Sex?
Geek Entertainment TV recently polled some twitter users (you might recognize some) at twestivalSF about their habbits when it comes to tweeting including do you tweet before, during, or after sex? burning questions we all want to know (all though burning during sex is not good...hehe).
So for the answer to that question and some others check out the video below.
So what was your first tweet?
Need A Quick Chat Room? Try TinyChat
These days everyone uses services like tinyurl, bit.ly, bacn.me ect ect. to shorten their url's to make things easier, cleaner, and quicker.
Today I discovered a service that takes the idea of making your url's smaller and brings it to the chat game called TinyChat.
TinyChat basically in minutes gives you a chat room, a tiny url to give out to others and soon will allow you to have your twitter or facebook credentials available for those who enter your room.

I am going to create a chat room now just to test it out so as read this blog post today stop by and if the room is still active we can chat with each other.
Overall looks like a kool idea for getting a chat room up and running quickly and then (in the near future) allows you to use other social media services to let others know who you are and were they can find ya.
Very Nice!
[come check out my TinyChat Room]
** note ** One thing that would be nice is the ability to pop the room out of the browser to make it it's own window.
So what are your thoughts on TinyChat? Do you use a similar service?
