Google Friend Connect Added To (jeff)isageek.net
The other day I started to get emails from friends all over the web that they wanted me to join them on Google Friend Connect so being the geek I am how could I resist. I started going to sites and adding myself as friends and connecting with the various blogs that are setup with the widgets and such.
Now also being a geek and always having to be playing with the latest and greatest I of course added GFC to my blog as well. If you check out the site you will see on the far right hand side I have added the followers/friends widget as well as the comments widget so feel free to one join the (jeff)isageek network and leave a little comment or something as well.
Now what will Google Friend Connect do for me or is it going to be a success??? Not sure..I am sure I will get some more traffic to my site and maybe I will meet some new kool people but I think it is still in the early stages and we will just have to see how this takes off.
Do you have Google Friend Connect on your blog or site? If so leave me a comment and I can join your network and or become your friend. Below I threw some information from google on the service for you to digest.
Highlights of Google Friend Connect
Enrich your site Choose engaging social features from a catalog of gadgets by Google and the OpenSocial developer community.
Attract more visitors Your users can easily invite friends from social networks and contact lists to visit and join your site.
No programming whatsoever Just copy and paste a few snippets of code into your site, and Friend Connect does the rest.

Help Bring Jonathan Coulton To Kansas City
Are you a fan of Jonathan Coulton? Would you like to see him here in Kansas City? A while back a request on the service Eventful was created to let Jonathan know he is wanted in KC.
Eventful is a collection of events happening everywhere that also has a feature that allows you to demand something in your area...maybe you want to see an artist or a celeb in your town? With Eventful you can let the community voice be heard as well as find out about events coming to your area.
So back to Mr. Coulton...at the time of this blog post the demand was upto 124 people in the area demanding he come here and while I am not sure what the magical number is to get him here the more we get the better the chances are I am sure.
so feel free to click on the widget below and demand Jonathan Coulton in KC

Happy Holidays From (jeff)isageek
First I just wanna say happy holidays to everyone out there on the interweb and hope you have a great holiday season whatever your beliefs are.
It has been a great year for me getting the chance to go to some great tech events, meetups, and I have met some awesome people this year who I will continue to work with and get to know even better in 2009.
Today Allison and I decided to put up the Christmas tree and put up some decorations around the house. So I thought why not put a little video and share it with everyone who follows my blog.
So here ya go!
Kallow – Helping With Your Holiday Tech Shopping
My buddy Caleb Elston who started the awesome service toluu has just released a new service to help all those out there who are the tech guru's for their family or friends or you are someone who is looking for that great gift for the tech guy or gal in your family but have no idea what to get.
The new service is called Kallow and basically what they are looking to bring to everyone out there looking for the hot, new, and best gadget is a one stop shop for the best in each category out there from laptops, GPS units, iPods, cameras, and so on.
Here is what Caleb and Jordan have to say about Kallow:
We started Kallow because we have family and friends who are just like you. They care about what technology can do for them, not what they have to do for technology. We found that so many of our friends spend days researching their next camera, TV, computer, or other gadget online with little success. Or instead, they suck it up and visit a big box electronics store, often ending up overwhelmed with the selection and underwhelmed with the staff. Either way, the process is confusing and frustrating for nearly everyone. It's great if you're a geek like us, but 99% of people aren't. We wanted to make shopping simple for everyone.

FFundercats : Podcasting Meets FriendFeed
My new favorite podcast these days is FFundercats which has a tagline of "A FriendFeedic Convergence Of FFunderous Proportions".
Who makes up the FFundercats? Well you have Josh Haley, Mark Wilson, and last but certainly not least John Worthington who with the help from various FriendFeeder's discuss subjects from Star Wars or Lego to FriendFeed itself.
Its a fun little podcast that for me just enhances my use of FriendFeed and brings the community even closer.
If you are part of the FriendFeed community or just looking for a humorous and fun podcast make sure you add them to your list of podcasts to follow.
FFtogo : Taking Your FriendFeed Addiction Mobile

If you have known me for any amount of time you probably know I have a little addiciton to FriendFeed and use it pretty much anytime I am not sleeping. Its a great service and I have met some pretty kool people.
Now one thing I find myself doing more and more on a daily basis is using my mobile device when I am away from my machines or in a setting where sitting with a laptop may not be the best and of course if I am away from home I am not using my desktop.
That is where FFtogo comes in. I bet you can guess already but it is the mobile version of the service we have all come to know and love. Now for all the hardcore FriendFeed users ou there this is probably old news but I thought I would share it for those who might not be aware that there is a mobile version to use.
FFtogo was the creation of Benjamin Golub (who now works for FriendFeed) and if the name sounds familiar to ya that is because he also created RSSmeme.
Well there really isnt much more to say about FFtogo so jump on over and get your FF fix anywhere you want now. Oh and hey while you are there be sure to look me up @ friendfeed.com/jeffisageek
