What SUP FriendFeed?

Found a great way to get your blog posts hitting the FriendFeed service in record time using the services Simple Update Protocol or SUP!
SUP (Simple Update Protocol) is a simple and compact "ping feed" that web services can produce in order to alert the consumers of their feeds when a feed has been updated. This reduces update latency and improves efficiency by eliminating the need for frequent polling.
I initially found out about this from Josh Haley, a WordPress plugin (WP-SUP), as well as a little video put together by Benjamin Golub.
known issue : apparently there is an issue if you use Feedburner where it is stripping the tags that are added by the plugin..so just so you know that.
Ok with that said I am gonna give the SUP a try with this post. If all works right it should post right away to FriendFeed. 3, 2, 1.....

The Live Tweeting Of A Plane Crash!!

I think this has to be a first for me at least and maybe the first on twitter. But I was just reading the live tweeting of a plane crash that took place in Denver yesterday.

The tweets came from Mike Wilson (@2drinksbehind). First let me say Mike we are glad you are ok and second this shows how technology and the web are bringing a more personable feel as well as a real time look at events as they happen.

Add Facebook Connect To Your Blog In 8 Minutes
Add Facebook Connect To Your Blog In 8 Minutes
The Facebook developers have started a video series to highlight Facebook Connect. In this video they show you how to add it to your blog in 8 minutes.
Maybe you have no idea what Facebook Connect is...well here are a few points
Facebook Connect is the next evolution of Facebook Platform -- enabling you to integrate the power of Facebook Platform into your own site.
As a developer, you can add social context to your site in four main ways:
* Identity. Seamlessly connect the user's Facebook account and information with your site
* Friends. Bring a user's Facebook friends into your site. You can even link friends that have existing accounts.
* Discovery. Publish information back into their friends' News Feeds on Facebook.
* Privacy. Bring dynamic privacy to your site using XFBML.
Additionally, Facebook Connect brings the full power and flexibility of Facebook Platform, including the REST API and FQL.
Are you planning to implement Facebook Connect on your blog? What are your thoughts? I think I will play around with it a bit and see what I think.

The Upgrade To WordPress 2.7
Its an 8-Bit Christmas!!!
The Upgrade To WordPress 2.7
Well the wait is over and version 2.7 of WordPress is now live.
from the wordpress blog:
The first thing you’ll notice about 2.7 is its new interface. From the top down, we’ve listened to your feedback and thought deeply about the design and the result is a WordPress that’s just plain faster. Nearly every task you do on your blog will take fewer clicks and be faster in 2.7 than it did in a previous version.
After shooting out a message on twitter to see if anyone had any issues with the install and getting back only positive feedback I decided to make the jump to the new version.
My initial reaction to the new version - WOW. It is so customizable with the ability to move boxes around where I want them, hide menus, fast response times, and a sexy new look. I have to say that the development team really hit a home run with this one in my eyes.
Here is a little video highlighting the new version.
Have you made the jump to WordPress 2.7? What do you think? Did you have any issues with the upgrade?
Its an 8-Bit Christmas!!!
Two of my favorite things are the Christmas season and 8-bit music and when I saw Doctor Octoroc was releasing 8-Bit Jesus I was pretty excited to get some holiday tunes 8-bit style.
I’ve been working on a new album for the past few months and am releasing a free MP3 download of the first half - sort of a preview, I suppose. The album is entitled 8-Bit Jesus and contains 9 tracks thus far. Each one is a chip-tune version of a classic Christmas song done in the style of a different NES game.
Make sure you jump over to the site and download the tunes to add a little geek to you holiday parties this season.
track list
We Three Konami
Ryu the Red Nosed Ninja
Silent Knight Man
Carol of the Belmonts
Joy to Commando
Deck the Kremlin
Little Drummer Nemo
The Legend of Noel
Super Jingle Bros.

My Links Are del.icio.us!

Today I discovered Andy from MMMeeja had created a list of people you should have in your del.icio.us network. Among some of the people listed were Steve Rubel, Louis Gray, Chris Brogan, Tamar Weinberg, ect. ect. oh and ME!!!
Here is what Andy had to say about my del.icio.us links :
Another Social Media guru (don’t there seem to be a lot of them on social media?). Jeff bookmarks much more technical information than most SMMs. He’s not afraid to roll up his sleaves and get into a bit of code, and his homepage is jeffisageek.net, which always makes me laugh.
I thought that was pretty kool that someone would put my links up with some of those other names. I just wanted to thank Andy for the kind words as well as please feel free to join my network as I love to get more and more links coming in for me to find those great links out there.
