AMC’s “Fork & Screen” Preview Tonight

A few weeks back I got a kool invite to check out AMC Theatres new concept called "Fork & Screen" which brings two favorite things of mine together in movies and eating!  So tonight I will be heading over to the AMC Studio 30 in Olathe to check the new services out and will for sure be reporting back to everyone via twitter and snapping some pics.

Guests of Fork & Screen and Cinema Suites will be able to enjoy in-theatre dining combined with the most current movies and other types of entertainment, presented in the immersive, big-screen viewing environment of an AMC theatre. Both Fork & Screen and Cinema Suites will feature in-theatre Seat-Side ServiceTM, where moviegoers will have the opportunity to order from a diverse menu of appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, desserts, beer, wine and cocktails, as well as traditional theatre concessions.

Fork & Screen will feature eight auditoriums reserved for guests 18-years-old and over and minors accompanied by a parent or guardian, where patrons will enjoy their entertainment in an intimate setting, with soft, comfortable seating and table-top dining.

For the ultimate in luxury moviegoing at an affordable price, AMC guests 21-years-old and over can upgrade to one of three Cinema Suites auditoriums featuring reserved seating.

Tonight we will be getting a tour of the new setup they have been working on for the past few months, get to ask any questions we might have, as well as catch a screening of Guy Ritchie’s new film RocknRolla”.

Along with my twitter posts I will work on a review and what I thought of everything which should pop up on the blog in a couple of days and if you have any questions you would like me to ask tonight please feel free to shoot me a tweet.

Random Bloggings

Thought I would throw a little post together just hitting some points that were in my head.

Welcome New Subscribers
I had a huge jump in rss subscribers over the last few days so I just wanted to take the time and say welcome to my new readers. Also wanted to take the time to say thank you to all the readers that have been following me for a long time now. I am working on getting more blog posts out on a regular basis (think its all about getting into a mental mindset of actually blogging). If you dont already two other places you can follow me for updates and such is twitter and friendfeed.

Highlight Midwest
We are only 8 days away from Highlight Midwest and if you have not registered yet make sure you jump over to the site and register for both events on the 29th. If this is your first time hearing about HM check out the site and see all the presenters and great events that are gonna happen. If you are in the midwest please join everyone as it should be an awesome day.

Big Event Tuesday Night
I have been invited to a bloggers only preview here in Kansas City....now that is all I can say at this time but come Tuesday night I will be able to post some tweets, pics, video's whatever. So keep your eyes on my streams.

Twitter and FriendFeed
As I mentioned earlier I am on Twitter and FriendFeed and if you are on one of those services and you dont have me as a friend or I dont have you as a friend let me know and lets connect. I am jeffisageek on both of them.

Well that is all for now. As always feel free to drop me a message @ jeffisageek@gmail.com or shoot me a DM on twitter if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, whatever.

Sharing My Newsfeeds With You

One thing I love about the social web is the ability to share story's that I find interesting with everyone out there...now some may be stories that are being linked to or commented on all over the place but its nice to sometime find a story via my shared items, rssmeme or readburner that is fresh and new.

With that I thought I would share a few ways you can subscribe to my news feeds and find out what I find interesting and maybe find something for yourself you had not heard about yet.

My Linkblog - via google reader these are the stories I find interesting from all my followers and feeds i subscribe to.

SocialMedian - maybe you use this service instead of google reader or with.  Either way this is another way to get my stories I have shared via google reader.

FriendFeed - being a FF junkie you will find my google reader items as well as pretty much everything else including stories I "like" from others.  I post a lot of geeky stuff on here as well so if that is your thing make sure you check it out.

Linkblog (twitter edition) - this is the same as my rss linkblog except it is via the twitter feed.

Want to add me to your friends shared items it google reader?  Send me an email or add me to your google talk and that should automatically add me to your friends and we can start sharing right in google reader as well.

Well hope this gives you a few options to get a newsfeed of mine or maybe it helps give you an idea of how you can share your favorite stories from the interweb as well.

Blog Action Day – Poverty (Oct 15th 2008)

My Friend Zena Weist posted today about Blog Action Day 2008 which takes place tomorrow and this years issue to tackle is Poverty. Below is a little information on the event and how you can get involved.

What is Blog Action Day?

Blog Action Day is an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day. Our aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion.

Global issues like poverty are extremely complex. There is no simple, clear answer. By asking thousands of different people to give their viewpoints and opinions, Blog Action Day creates an extraordinary lens through which to view these issues. Each blogger brings their own perspective and ideas. Each blogger posts relating to their own blog topic. And each blogger engages their audience differently.

Twitter Vote Report : Twitter Meets The Voting Process

Everyday we are seeing new ways social media services are changing how we experience events in our community to around the world. This coming November 4th Americans will head to the polls for the Presidential Election and from my memory this will be the first Election since twitter/social media has taken off.

Enter the Twitter Vote Report (twittervotereport.com) :

So, get ready to Twitter your Vote Report! Voters can share their experiences with other people in real-time using Twitter.com. This will help other voters not to show up when the lines are too long, and let the media and watchdog groups know that there are machinery problems or that voters are being asked for identification unnecessarily (or necessarily if they are first-time voters) in certain precincts.

To let your voice be heard on the report go to twitter, write your message and use the hashtag #votereport.

Report back with posts on things like :

1. The time of day (9:20 am, 1:12 pm)
2. The zip code you just voted in (e.g. 10591, 10012)
3. The issue: Wait (e.g. a waiting time of over ½ hour) Reg. (e.g. a problem with your registration) Machine (e.g. voting machines are broken or jamming)
4. Whatever else you feel like sharing on your experience.

I think it is gonna be interesting the part that social media and the social web plays in the next few weeks as we head to the polls.

Follow Cost : Putting A Value To The Twitter Noise

Like everyone else I get daily emails saying so and so is following me on twitter and then I have to make the decision do I follow them back? Are they just a spammer or maybe they don't say much that you would be interested or maybe they say to much?

Follow Cost is here to help you determine what kind of noise you are gonna get by adding this person to your twitter feed by measuring in milliscobles (see explination below).

A person's follow cost is calculated in terms of milliscobles, named after technology personality and prolific Twitterer Robert Scoble.

One milliscoble is defined as 1/1000th of the average daily Twitter status updates by Robert Scoble.

When I put in jeffisageek to check my follow cost it spit back 7.44 (Daily Average) or 351.00 milliscobles how does this compare to others? Lets look at my fellow broadcasters from The Social Geeks Podcast.

Daily Average
Corvida - 18.88
Louis Gray - 3.70
Sarah Perez - 5.16
Wayne Sutton -20.65
Chris Miller - 5.79
Caleb Elston - 2.09

Now is this a tool that is gonna take over the interweb? No. Is it a fun little thing to maybe see which of your friends creates the most noise on twitter? Yes.

Check out your Follow Cost and post it up on the comments

You’ve Been Barack Rolled!

What do you get when you cross Barack Obama with Rick Astley and Rick Rolled? You get Barack Rolled!! I have been enjoying watching this video over the past few weeks and thought I would share it with everyone since the election is just around the corner.

Someone even used the blue screen that was at the Republican Convention to make it look like McCain was Barack Rolled. Of Course it didnt really happen.

Dont forget to get out there and vote on Election Day!
