I seem to be getting someone who is trying to setup multiple users on my wordpress blog each day. They are just random letters so I am assuming it is a spammer or a bot.

See my tweet and also under Settings -> General there is the option that says “Anyone can register”. Mine is checked. You might try unchecking that.

There definitely is, Jeff. Go to WP-ADMIN > Settings > General > uncheck "Anyone can register".

Since you are using Disqus, you don't need to change the default behavior of comments.

That should take care of it!

If you don't want to allow users at all, it's under Settings (General) – you will see a Membership section for 'Anyone can register' – just turn that off.
