Ping.fm – Broadcast Yourself

ping.fm

A new little service I have been using since it launched a few months ago is Ping.fm which if you are not familiar lets you send out messages/status messages to a multitude of services including everything from twitter and pownce to facebook and myspace and it seems to be growing every day.

Overall its a super simple service that doesn’t do a bunch of everything but it does what it does very nicely by either the site itself, a mobile verison, or a secret email address that is provided to you if you wanna send from your favorite email client.

I myself use it from time to time to update to twitter, myspace, jaiku, and pownce all at one time.  have a link in your post…no problem the service will make the url tiny to help keep the number of characters down and for any of you on twitter you know how important that is :)

A couple of notes about the service it is currently in beta but use the invite code “pingfriends” and you are in..and also the guys over at the service right now are planning to throw everyone who follows them on twitter before may 1st in a drawing for a free iPod Touch…so make sure you sign up for that!

  • Since FriendFeed is starting to replace Twitter as my preferred view to the outside world, I'm not sure that ping.fm would do much for me. It would be redundant to see the same message coming from different services in my FriendFeed feed. However, my experience may not be the norm; it sounds like a good service.
  • or maybe they will add a way to post directly to friendfeed with ping.fm ?
Anyone from ping.fm reading this...might want to include friendfeed to the
    services. :)
