I recently found out about a new site/service out there called toluu which I would describe as an rss addicts crack   What it allows you to do is add your feeds (manually or via opml), add friends and then discover who you are most compatible with feed wise and also help you discover new sites you may not have heard of or maybe just never got around to checking out.  With toluu I have found some kool new sites and hope I have helped others discover some sites I have found through the years.

The service is far from being ready for prime time and is still in beta so keep that in mind as you play around with it but even at the point it is I would consider it a great service.  A few things I would love to see added to the service would be the ability to subscribe to a feed directly into the aggregator of my choice as well as integration with friendfeed   (sorry couldnt resist that one)

Well another day and another batch of greasemonkey scripts get released for FriendFeed and they are some good ones.  Internet Duct Tape keeps bringing the goods!

This time we have the following :

FriendFeed Pagerization – script that lets you “infinitely scroll” FriendFeed.
Increase Entries Per Page – FriendFeed show you 30 entries now…how about 50 or 100?
Reshare Any Link – lets you share a link from Friend Feed with ANY other social bookmarking site.
Even More Expander – FriendFeed uses “More” for links so you dont have to much “noise” on your page.  with this script it brings the “noise” and displays everything.

All of these are great scripts that I have running now and they add some great funtionality and enjoyment of FriendFeed.  Love it!

It seems like the buzz the last week or so has been FriendFeed, FriendFeed, and a little more FriendFeed or atleast in the social media/web circle.

I think a few things have pretty much thrown the fuel on the fire and created a towering inferno like the release of the API which is gonna bring us all kinds of apps (web based, desktop based, and mobile based – fingers crossed), the integration with twitter has been a huge step, and I think some greasemonkey scripts out there now are adding to the functionality and usefulness of FriendFeed. Below are a few that I am using and am aware of….if you have any others please please feel free to leave a comment and let us know.

Greasemonkey scripts

Filter FriendFeed by Service – This one will put a line of all the friendfeed services icons at the top of your page allowing you to click on one of the icons and filter your view with just all posts by you or your friends to that service.

FriendFeed Twitter Client – FriendFeed already lets you reply to twitter messages and have them added back to twitter but with this script it actually lets you originate a twitter post from right on your page. Very handy and kool of course Oh I almost forgot it also gives you your character count so you can stay under 140 easily and it automatically checks the “reply on twitter?” box

Remove Visited Links – Already seen a link? Dont want to see it again on FriendFeed? Enough stuff to look through as it is? Well this script basically takes a link you already looked at and makes it disappear for ya. Pretty handy when you have a lot to go thru daily.

A Few Non Script Goodies

Comments Wordpress Plugin – Get some comments on a blog post you put up on FriendFeed? Love to have them show up with your normal blog comments? Well this is a plugin for you. It will put those comments added via FriendFeed back on your blog! Brilliant!

FriendFeed Stats – This little site will tell you which day yourself or any user for that matter posts to FriendFeed the most or you can find out what day you post the most flickr pics, del.icio.us links, blog posts, ect. Overall just a place for us interested in numbers and stats to get our fix

FriendFeed Grid – This little site randomly throws up FriendFeed users pics in a grid and allows you to go to their FriendFeed page…it also shows the 20 most subscribed to (shocker Robert Scoble is #1 ) as well as 10 most commenting. So overall just a fun little site to discover others using FriendFeed.

Ok kids I need some help!  If you are on FriendFeed (and if you are not…why not!!) could you put a comment up on friendfeed for this post?

I am testing out the new Wordpress plugin by Glenn Slaven that puts any comments about your blog posts on FriendFeed and slaps them right on the original post on your blog as well!

Looks pretty sweet and being a geek I am obligated to add it to my site

nclüdr is “the most awesomest ultimate social network ever” that launched today after months of “development, seeding, hoeing, back-end testing, and the implementation of its revolutionary synchronization algorithms that deliver a more seamless social networking experience,” according to a release issued earlier this morning.

Actually, it’s nothing more than an amusing prank site and parody of social networks.

upload photos or publish notes • get the latest news from your friends • post videos on your profile • tag your friends • use privacy settings to control who sees your info • NOT WITH nclüdr!

BUT you CAN have that warm, comfortable feeling in knowing the EVERYONE and EVERYTHING around where you live study or work is YOUR FRIEND.

Profile

nclüdr actually does everything for you. To sign up you simply type in your name and answer a series of questions. Submit your answers and nclüdr will work it’s magic to create your profile for you with all the necessary information. The site’s interface reminds me a lot of Facebook, so I’m guessing the joke’s on them. Here’s a look at my profile:

For your information, I do not do one night stands. Your profile can also be regenerated and emailed to friends.

Friends

As you can see, I have 12.3 billion friends and Julius Caesar is one of them. So is my old flame Ronald MacDonald. Here’s a screenshot of some of my other friends that are pretty important:

Apps

Of course, no social network is complete without some sort of application platform. What does nclüdr have? Ball Krusher (which beats SuperPoke on Facebook by a mile)!

Overall, nclüdr is a cute prank and one that I’m sure we’ll all have a good laugh about. I recommend checking out the FAQ, Privacy, and Terms section for more laughs! Better yet, just click on every link at that site for more laughs.

I am proud to announce the launch of a new site to the social news arena which is dedicated to all things Linux.  NixNews was created and maintained by my friend linuxchic who you might also know from the Alternageek Podcast which she co-hosts.

It is currently in beta and but linuxchic decided to release it in the wild to have people (linux junkies) test it out and find the bugs as we go….there are a few things here and there that are still being polished but the main jist of the site being news about linux is out there and ready to be voted on.

If you are familiar with other social news sites like digg or mixx then you will be right at home and ready to start voting right away.   With that said everyone jump over and get an account set up….lets find the best linux news out there for the masses.

Always Watching has a sweet post up of scenes from movies and television that only includes the original audio and typography which makes for a kool alternative to the original work.

They have scenes from Pulp Fiction (video above), Kill Bill, Ocean’s Eleven, and The Office. Pretty kool stuff so check it out!
