Explaining twitter replies

my buddy scott over at techlifeblogged has created a very nice demo explaining how the new settings with twitter replies works. obviously sometimes it can get a little confusing.

what are #hashtags? [from the site]
#hashtags are an easy way to track a specific topic or event using the Twitter network for hyper-instant communication, coordination and reporting.
Two of my favorite things these days is twitter and tagging. I have always thought it would be great to be able to tag twitter posts to get tweets on a certain subject and track that information.
with hashtags that is possible and it is pretty simple to do. All you have to do is subscribe to the hashtags bot within twitter (and have a twitter account of course) then put a ‘#’ in front of a word and you are a hashtag pro! an example would be something like this:
going to the #apple store to get a new #macbookpro.
so with that anyone looking for posts with hashtags of #apple and #macbookpro would get your post.
The tagging of twitter posts is pretty new but seems to be picking up some steam and I think one kool thing would be twitter itself adding tagging and allowing it to not count toward the 140 character count. what do you think?
another point i just thought I would throw out there you can also subscribe to an rss feed of your hashtags you want to follow - which for me is a HUGE plus.
Two services I use to help with GTD (Getting Things Done) are Google Calendar to keep me up on what events, meetings, gatherings, ect. and Remember the Milk to keep track of work and personal tasks to be completed.
Another service I use as you may know on a daily and sometimes hourly basis is twitter which I think pretty much any geek knows what that is by now
What is kool now is you have the ability to send direct commands to both services via your twitter account. First all you have to do is of course have a google calendar or rtm account…subscribe to them on twitter which for remember the milk is rtm and for google calendar is twittercal or gcal on the twitter service.
After you have that all setup it is pretty simple in that you just have to send direct messages to those twitter accounts which in turn will add the information to the respective account.
ie for twittercal - d gcal meeting tomorrow at 2 PM.
good sources of info:
twittercal page
remember the milk on twitter info
Also feel free to shoot me an email or twitter message if you have any questions.
want to find those tweets out there with the more colorful language? Your in luck!! twittertale was created with that just in mind. On the site you can see the most recent twitter posts with curse words along with the top words and the top potty mouths.
Your not gonna learn anything new with this site but its just some old fashioned clean err dirty fun.
